Driven to get 36 student girls out of period poverty

>> LET'S HELP MORE CHILDREN

There’s a lot more to the period poverty story…

Close to the mining belt of South Africa sits the lively township of Soweto, Johannesburg. Within that township lies a now-thriving Isaacson Primary School, which passionately educates 253 young children.

Back in November 2023, as a result of our extensive outreach program, we discovered that 36 young girls were missing up to 60 days of school each year. Shockingly, this amounted to more than 2,000 days of lost education—something almost impossible to comprehend in Western society.

To make matters even more unpalatable, those poor young women had resorted to improvising dangerous alternatives to sanitary towels, such as newspapers, socks, and even mud.

STOP THE LOSS OF EDUCATION >>

With the help and support of people like you, we have now plugged the lost education gap and are proudly providing those young girls with an ongoing supply of biodegradable, 100% cotton sanitary towels. They no longer face the indignity, stigma, and lack of education that once held them back from achieving great things. Now, they face each day with optimism, happiness, and pride as they grow into productive members of society.

But there’s more to this story that you really need to hear!
Not only are we proud of our achievements in helping young people thrive, but we also make a significant contribution to the local economy by providing work to a whole network of drivers, both men and women.

These drivers are the shining lights who work tirelessly to deliver essential products to schools and educate the children on how to use them. Beyond that, these drivers, in turn, spend money with other local businesses—mechanics, tyre fitters, and many others. In fact, a whole wealth of businesses in the community benefit from our mission to eradicate period poverty.

Helping to solve the problem of period poverty doesn’t just benefit these young women; it puts food on the tables of other families supported through this network. Help us keep this essential lifeline going—you’ll be helping more people than you could ever know.
